Dr Phophi Ramathuba says her responsibility is to ensure the health of Limpopo people

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has responded to the backlash over her treatment of a patient. Ramathuba was recently caught on camera telling a patient from Zimbabwe that migrants are putting the province’s health system under a strain. She said Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa does not contribute to Limpopo’s health budget and told the patient to settle his bill.

While some have come out in support of her comments, others are calling for her to be fired. The MEC says her responsibility is to make sure that the people of Limpopo live a long and healthy life.
