Facebook Like Button – Free Marketing, Advertising

Ever want to show your friends a great find when your out shopping at a store but have no way of sharing the store and item other then to tell them about it when you get home. With the Internet, it’s a much easier process because with Facebook, there is the Facebook Like Button. This button will tell all your friends that you liked this online store or item in an instant without phone calls and difficult explanations.

Once a Facebook user initiates the Like Button, an automatic connection from the Facebook user’s account to that webpage will be established. There will also be a posting on their Facebook page so that all their friends will see that this website is something they like and their friends should check it out. At least this is what the business, charity or band is hoping will happen. Spreading the word through a high tech system such as Facebook is really a low tech word of mouth way of letting other know what they like and are using or recommend.

There are millions of places on the web that a Facebook Like Button could be placed and used for marketing and advertising of a website through word of mouth and recommendations from friends. A Facebook user will be able to tell if their friends have liked a place before they have by checking the Friends box near the Like Button on the website. This will usually bring up all the friends from an individuals profile who have already tagged the website.

The Like Button is a simple procedure to attach to a website according to instructions on the Facebook website. Developers and programmers will have the easiest time with it, however, others who are willing to try installing it will also have a fairly easy time if they follow each step exactly. When a Like Button is installed on various websites, it helps to spread the word about the business, cause or event that it’s placed upon. It used good old-fashioned word of mouth to gain new viewers and friends that will possibly attend the event or at least sign up for a newsletter to keep updated and maybe purchase something in the future.

Some people believe that the Facebook Like Button is similar to the Facebook Fan key that can be found on many websites and will also send out updates to regular users. When something is posted on someone’s Facebook wall or added to the Like section, every one of their friends will receive that same identical message on their Facebook page or wall. This will give a business, charity or any type of event the extra boost it needs to gain more exposure without having the business or event spend a lot of money.
