But since the start of the pandemic, retaining one is also proving difficult for many Canadians, with a rising number of professionals leaving the practice.
One patient knows this pain all too well. When Donna Kivanc lost her business during the pandemic, an accident further left her unable to work, and needing care — only to find out that her family doctor had died at the onset of COVID-19, with nobody to replace him.
