Federal ministers and health officials provide COVID-19 update – January 7, 2022
On Parliament Hill, federal ministers Jean-Yves Duclos (health) and Dominic Leblanc (intergovernmental affairs) provide an update on the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic amid the surge in cases and the spread of the Omicron variant across Canada. They are joined virtually by Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer. The ministers face questions on federal health-care resources, the possible introduction of mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies by provinces and territories, and the distribution of rapid antigen tests.
