In order to grow a tropical container garden successfully, there are some things you need to consider. Some of these things are discussed in details below:

Containers

You have to choose containers ideal for your garden. You don’t have to worry, most of the time, these containers can be found right in your own home. Just as long as you can bore holes in its bottom for proper drainage, you’ll be good to go.

With that said, you also need to keep in mind the aesthetic value of the container considering that the plant will be place inside your house or in your deck or patios. You surely wouldn’t want anything ugly become a part of your home.

Plants

As for plant options, you have lots of tropical plant variety to choose from. If you want to grow vegetables you may consider tropical plants such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, cabbage and other herbs.

As for ornamental plants, your option includes Marigold, Dahlia, Zinnia, the Cosmos and Hibiscus. These flowering plants will add color and life into your home. Furthermore, you might also like to include non-flowering plants like Philodendron, Velvet Plant and Polka-dot plants.

Location

You also have to choose a good location for your plant. Even small, cramped places would make a good location provided that the plants gets exposed to ample sunlight. You may find good location in decks, patios, porch, window sills and balconies.

Care

See to it that proper care is given to the plants. For vegetables especially, you need to ensure that you give it a proper soil mix as well as organic fertilizers. Furthermore, you also need to water it as needed by the different variety of plants. And make sure that the water is drained properly otherwise, it could get waterlogged and could deter the growth and development of the plants.
