One of today’s most popular cell phones, the Blackberry, can cause headaches when attempting to transfer files over Bluetooth. This difficulty with file transfers affects customers wanting to receive Bluetooth Marketing flyers. Professional Bluetooth Marketing servers can send to Blackberry phones, but consumers may need some education on their phone’s operation.
The steps to receive Bluetooth Marketing flyers on a Blackberry are described here:
1) Enable Bluetooth on the Blackberry. A Bluetooth Marketing server will not see the phone until these steps are done:
- Settings -> Options -> Bluetooth… Enable Bluetooth
- Settings -> Options -> Bluetooth -> Menu Key -> options… Discoverable = yes
2) Enable receiving a file on the Blackberry. If your Bluetooth advertising server reports statistics on all phones found, then the server may report the Blackberry as having no OBEX channel until these steps are done:
- Media -> Menu Key -> Explore… Select file location
- Media -> Menu Key -> Explore -> Menu Key… Receive Using Bluetooth
3) The phone will ask for a PIN. The ALT key should be used to enter numbers for the PIN.
4) The advertisement can now be transferred to the Blackberry.
5) The advertisement will be stored in the directory selected in Step 2.
Bluetooth advertising is used to send coupons, flyers, or other content to cell phones using a wireless Bluetooth connection to a consumer’s cell phone, smart phone, or other Bluetooth enabled device. The ads are typically JPG or GIF image files, but can also be vCards, audio MP3s, 3GP videos, or other file formats.
