Wes Streeting, the shadow health secretary, has said that it would be better for children to have to wear masks in classrooms than be out of school.
His comments came as the Government prepared to draw up plans to re-introduce mask-wearing in secondary schools.
Streeting added that it was also important to ensure adequate testing and ventilation in schools.
