The hot lava game: we need to own our kids' mental health | Jason Reid | TEDxTemecula

NOTE FROM TED: Some viewers may find elements of this talk to be distressing. The speaker discusses his own personal experiences and understanding of mental health as a parent dealing with teen suicide. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdf

This is not the world we grew up in. Kids today are much more prone to anxiety and depression than we were. As parents, we need to understand the differences so that we can help them navigate the world. Trigger warning, this talk deals with the topic of depression and suicide in teenagers. Jason has been married for 26 years and is the proud father of four
amazing children. Jason lives his life with passion and focus and believes that ordinary people can (and do) change the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
